The Shift to Digital: How Society Is Moving More Operations Online

We are all aware of the digital age we live in. With technology becoming more and more advanced, it's no surprise that society has begun to move more and more operations online. This shift can be seen in many different areas of life, such as healthcare and consulting.

But is this really a positive thing? Are we sacrificing too much in order to have most of our activities online?

It's hard to say for sure whether or not the Covid pandemic has impacted the digital life in a positive or negative way. On the one hand, it has forced many people to stay home and connect with loved ones online. This can be seen as a positive, as it helps to keep people connected. On the other hand, it has also created a sense of isolation for many people.

Following, I'll list few services that have shifted to online.


Therapy online is when you talk to a therapist over the internet. You can do this from your home, or anywhere you have an internet connection. This can be done through video conferencing, phone call, or even text messaging.

Virtually everyone that was doing therapy shifted to an online session, myself included. While an online session can't be as good as one online, having someone to talk over the phone can be healthy and regulate bad feelings/emotions. Now (2022) that the COVID pandemic restrictions are almost all over, I would advise to go back to in-person therapy, when possible: humans communicate mostly with gestures and facial expressions rather than only words, and while doing a call, those are harder to be noticed, unless the Therapist is well experienced.

Software Development

Some software development has always been done online, but the pandemic has helped to move a lot of it to be done that way. This means you can do your job from home, or anywhere you have an internet connection.

Why working in an office 5 days a week when you can do it in the place you love most dearly?

Since I have directly experience with this, I can say that an hybrid option with a nice office is the best: work in the office whenever you want, with some days dedicated only to meeting in person, to socialize and bond with your colleagues.


Many consultants now work remotely. This means that they can meet with clients over the phone or online instead of in person. This is a convenient way for busy people to get the help they need without having to take time out of their day to travel to a meeting.

Remote Job equal Sedentary Life?

It's hard to say for sure how bad sedentary life is for virtually everyone, but there is certainly a lot of evidence that points to the negative effects of a digital-only lifestyle. A recent study found that people who spend more time online are at a higher risk of depression and anxiety. And another study showed that people who spend more time on digital devices are more likely to experience sleep problems.

Sedentary life is when you sit down all the time and don't move. This can be bad for your health because it can cause circulation problems and make you obese.

So what does all this mean for us? It's hard to say for sure. But one thing is certain: the digital age is here to stay, and we need to learn how to adapt to it in a way that doesn't sacrifice our health and well-being.

Online Learning

It's no secret that the digital age has ushered in a new era of learning. With so many online courses and resources available, it's easier than ever to learn new skills and expand your knowledge. And this is especially true for those who have adapted to a digital life.

Since so much of our time is now spent online, we have had to learn how to be efficient and effective digital learners. We need to know how to find the right resources, how to stay on track, and how to get the most out of our online experiences.

In addition, we have also learned how to be good digital citizens. We know how to use the internet safely and responsibly, and we understand the importance of digital citizenship skills such as digital literacy and digital etiquette.

Digital Literacy is the ability to use digital technology, such as computers and smartphones, to locate, evaluate, create, and communicate information. Digital Literacy also includes understanding the legal and ethical issues surrounding digital technology.

Digital Etiquette refers to the proper behavior when using digital technology. It includes things such as netiquette (etiquette for using the internet), email etiquette, and cellphone etiquette.

So what does the future hold for the digital age? It's hard to say for sure. But one thing is certain: we need to learn how to adapt to it in a way that doesn't sacrifice our health and well-being. Only then can we truly reap the benefits of living in a digital world.
